About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of Jackson Heights, Izakaya Fuku is a distinctive Japanese dining gem that masterfully blends traditional flavors with an inviting, urban ambiance. Specializing in authentic Japanese izakaya and ramen cuisine, this cozy restaurant offers guests an experience that transcends the ordinary, transporting them straight to the spirited streets of Tokyo.

Upon stepping inside Izakaya Fuku, you’re greeted by a warm, casual atmosphere punctuated with lively walls adorned in graffiti, eclectic hanging lights, and playful touches like beer crate seating topped with cushions, which add a unique flair to the dining space. This eclectic aesthetic sets the stage for a memorable meal that is both relaxed and authentically Japanese, as noted by frequent patrons who find themselves nostalgically reminded of their travels to Japan.

The menu is a vibrant showcase of Japan’s culinary delights, with specialties that cater to both adventurous palates and comfort food lovers alike. Among the standout dishes, the Creamy Mentai Bacon Udon draws rave reviews for its perfectly al dente noodles bathed in a luscious, creamy sauce punctuated by the slightly spicy, rich mentai (spicy cod roe) flavor. The Takoyaki—golden octopus-filled balls with a crispy exterior—and the juicy, crispy Karaage Chicken offer delightfully authentic textures and flavors that are pure comfort on a plate.

Seafood lovers will appreciate the meticulously fresh sashimi options, including the buttery Salmon (Sake) Sashimi, tender Octopus (Tako) Sashimi, and the delicate Bluefin Tuna (Maguro) Sashimi, all served with care and precision. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, with its rich, savory broth and perfectly cooked noodles, embodies the soul-warming depth that ramen enthusiasts seek.

One cannot miss the restaurant’s FUKU SPECIALS, which elevate the dining experience even further. The Ika ShiShi stir-fried squid with shishito peppers and spicy cod roe combines bold, smoky, and spicy notes, while the Shime Saba—a seared and marinated whole mackerel—is a beautifully balanced dish that highlights the kitchen’s commitment to authentic Japanese technique and flavor. Equally comforting is the Chicken Katsu Don, a classic that hits all the right notes of crispy coating and savory sauce over steamed rice.

Beverage offerings complement the menu thoughtfully, featuring unique Japanese sodas like YUZU Sparkling and Ume Sparkling, as well as the highly recommended fresh Japanese apple juice, which delivers a refreshing and subtly sweet counterpoint to the rich and savory dishes.

What truly sets Izakaya Fuku apart, beyond its enticing menu, is the attentive and warm service that consistently earns praise from its guests. Diners like Jazz Chomboon have expressed how the welcoming atmosphere coupled with helpful staff creates a dining moment reminiscent of cherished memories from Japan. The fusion of authentic cuisine and a uniquely playful, urban vibe makes this eatery not just a place to eat, but a destination to savor.

Had a quick dinner after a surfing trip in queens 3 Thursdays a go. Cute little spot with a Japan-like atmosphere that brought me back to my first solo trip in Tokyo 13 years ago! The food was deliciousious, loved how crispy and fresh our Grilled Makerel was and my Udon mentaiko came in a perfect Al dente with the right thickness creamy sauce. Our waitress was attentive and helpful a bit bummer to hear they said something not really nice about us in Thai before realizing I know the language. 5 stars for the food and vibes ** Cash only **

MENTAI NOODLES hands down the best ever. All carbs and worth every bit of it. The main reason we keep coming back to this spot and also tasting their other platters is a great experience. Karaage Chicken is a good app along with the Kani Salad. It’s light and delicious.

It’s surreal, coz everyone in the dinning is Thai, even the server are Thai, yet they serve a great not good but great Japanese food. I have to met the Chef. Amazing food! They just have to learn more on Japanese terminology. Example they have Toki highball and I ask Toki on the rocks instead the server told me that the highball is the brand name, and I keep insisting that Toki is the Japanese Whisky, and when I ask for Togarashi, they said I have to order. so I said can i order, then they come back they don’t have it on the Menu. and then my husband order a Asahi Super Dry, they don’t know the Super Dry. These are small things, but sometimes need to taken cared of, Anyhow, it makes me deel back to Izakaya in Tokyo, only people are speaking Thai not Nihongo. But still loved the whole vibe! Congratulations guys and good luck. wish you more success.

Izakaya Fuku is a small, cozy, well rounded Japanese restaurant with some really delicious dishes. I ordered the Creamy Zuwaikani Pasta which is pasta topped with snow crab and salmon roe. The snow crab was sweet, juicy and so flavorful. I've had plenty of snow crabs that are made wrong and has lost all it's flavor but this is definitely not one of them. Along with the flavor of this dish, it is also very well plated. I had a taste of some other dishes as well. You can't go wrong with ordering a bowl of ramen. The flavor is solid. Their chicken teriyaki from their chicken teriyaki don is really well flavored, very crispy and complements the rice really well. I personally wouldn't recommend the salmon donburi just because it lacks a lot of flavor making the dish as a whole pretty bland. They have a very large variety of dishes. Definitely check this place out!!

Izakaya Fuku in NY is very different from what you usually expect when it comes to Japanese food. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with an urban vibe walls covered in graffiti, hanging lights, a jukebox playing music, and even chairs made out of beer crates with cushions on top. It’s a unique concept that feels casual but very enjoyable. The service is good and the food is definitely worth trying. Their sushi is served as a type of nigiri over a bed of rice, with great flavor overall. The only one I personally didn’t enjoy was the fish roe sushi since it had a strong cod-like taste, but everything else was excellent. The classic ramen was absolutely delicious, rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. I also have to highlight their house-made soy sauce it’s outstanding and really elevates the experience. The only downside for me is that the place is cash only. I don’t think this adds to the concept, and instead it takes away a bit from the overall experience in such a modern and authentic spot. Overall, I do recommend Izakaya Fuku if you want to enjoy Japanese food in a very different, urban setting with great flavors and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

This is my go-to Japanese spot. They open late, so I always come here whenever I’m hungry at night. The food is always delicious and never disappoints. The staff are super friendly and take great care of customers. I’ll definitely keep coming back!

Food was delicious and reasonably priced, and staff was great. I stopped by for a pickup, but was offered a table to sit at while food was being prepared. I wasn't expecting to enjoy the interior so much, but it was fun and cozy. 5/5 would 100% stop by again.

Food looks delicious, couldn’t eat most of it because when I went I was still recovering from wisdom teeth removal . I got the salmon don, the sautéed salmon was on the sweet side and the fresh salmon was good. I like the type of wasabi they use, it’s not the spicy type. Would love to come back to try other dishes!
